Acclaim Health provides education, support and counseling to clients, families, and professionals dealing with Alzheimer disease through the Resource Centre. The Education Coordinator provides individualized/group support to family caregivers and persons with dementia on the telephone or in person.

Support groups in Halton allow the opportunity for caregivers to network, receive information, share experiences, and make friends. For information on the groups held in your community, please click on the appropriate link:

In Oakville and Burlington there are specific groups for spouses and evening groups for family members.  Spouses may also participate in evening groups if that is the preferred time.

Twice a year the Dementia Information Series for Family Caregivers is offered covering a wide range of topics from "Understanding Changes in Behaviour" to  "Appropriate Communication Strategies and Information on Community Resources".

Discussion Series - once a year, this session focuses on issues related to the middle and late stages of dementia.

"I could not have managed for the two year period without Acclaim Health Alzheimer’s. First it was the day care which is second to none. Then the Information Series where I became better informed about the disease and the services. Next came the support group with other caregivers. Once again Acclaim Health came to my rescue." - Jack Cartwright
