Bereavement Peer Support Program

15 volunteers needed.

  • You can offer support to those struggling to cope with the death of a loved one.
  • Only 2 hours/week time commitment.
  • Cost-free training provided for one-on-one bereavement support.

 

Friendly Visiting

60 volunteers needed, particularly in Oakville.

  • You can provide assistance and companionship to an isolated senior or physically challenged adult living in their own home.
  • Your activities can include, but are not limited to, visiting a client in their home, going on a fun shopping trip or having a chat over coffee.
  • Only 2 hours/week time commitment.

 

Home Support Exercise Program

5 volunteers needed.

  • You can help a senior in their own home perform exercises to improve to improve balance and mobility.
  • Only 1 hour/week time commitment.
  • Cost-free training provided for you to become certified in delivering the Home Support Exercise Program.

 

Hospice Visiting

20 volunteers needed across Halton.

Next training session:
Thursdays from 6:00pm-9:00pm beginning September 28, 2017 to November 30, 2017
Held at Acclaim Health, 2370 Speers Rd. in Oakville

  • You can provide people facing life-threatening illness with companionship in their own home.
  • Only 2 hours/week time commitment.
  • Cost-free training provided for you to attend a 10-week hospice training program offered in the spring and fall.

 

Adult Day Program

No volunteers needed at this time.

  • You can assist in the delivery and therapeutic social and recreational activities for memory-impaired adults attending our Adult Day Program.
  • Only 4 hours/week time commitment.

 

Memory Visiting

50 volunteers needed, particularly in Burlington. Volunteers who speak Spanish, Italian or Portuguese needed in Oakville.

  • You can provide assistance and companionship to memory-impaired seniors or physically challenged individuals and offer respite to the client’s primary caregiver.
  • Your activities can include, but are not limited to, visiting a client in their home, going on a fun shopping trip or having a chat over coffee.
  • Only 1 – 1.5 hours/week time commitment.

 

Caregiver Support and Education Group Facilitators

2 volunteers needed (1 for Oakville, 1 for Georgetown).

  • You can facilitate support groups for caregivers of persons with dementia, and assist with registration of education sessions.
  • Support Groups are held throughout Halton during the afternoon or evening.
  • 3 hour/month time commitment.

 

Tele-Touch

5 volunteers needed.

  • You can call clients at pre-arranged times for friendly conversation, security and reassurance from the comfort of your own home.
  • Only minutes to 1 hour/week time commitment.
